  We put in an application on a house that Bob Yang had listed on Zillow for rent. He allowed me to go take a look at the house while the previous tenant was vacating, he did clear with the tenant that it was ok to do so. I fell in love with the home and was ready to do whatever I had to do to secure the home. Well when it came to getting the application it seems that Bob was reluctant and then after several request he finally sent it. I immediately filled out the app and got it back to him the same day. He then sent an email to use this company called SmartMove to do the background check once he cleared the initial app. I went in did the background check and I received an email a couple of days later from the company that our report had been sent to Bob. So I waited a day or so and then I text Bob and asked how long does it take to make a decision once the report is received. He never responded and most of our communication was done by text! I thought that was strange b/c I just wanted a timeframe. The next day I got an email from the company stating Bob denied our app b/c of eviction history. I immediately called Bob and said this isn't correct we've never been evicted. He said well that's what the landlord found in your report, I'll talk to the landlord and hurriedly hung up. So I then began to do my own research b/c I know that this info wasn't correct. So we called SmartMove and after they asked all these questions and then finally told us the address, we informed them we've never lived there and we've never had an eviction. The representative started pulling more info and then apologized and stated well we never said a eviction anyway this individual showed several late payments on rent. He then told us to call the landlord or whoever submitted this request and have them to call us and we'll rectify this issue immediately. Well we called Bob to explain what they had found and he said the landlord has made his decision I'm not at my desk right now and hung up!!! First, they used a company that states that all info may not be accurate, which he said was disclosed to the person submitting the request. The rep then stated that they take info in the system and match it to the applicants name, which if there is a common name, it could send back errors in the report because they can't use social security numbers, REALLY??? Second, the landlord made the decision off of Bob's info and Bob now knows that this is an error. Third, this was very unprofessional and unethical for the most part. We work really hard to keep our credit good and to do right by people we do business with. We truly feel that they used any reason to deny our application for this home. Mind you we met all other requirements, the score had to be a 650 or higher to even be considered. There was nothing else and what they based their decision on wasn't even correct. This is wrong on so many levels and all they have to do is make a phone call but they seem to refuse to do so! We are filing a complaint against this company and requiring them to remove that info b/c we don't know who all they've sent this wrong report to or if it will be used by someone else. Hopefully, Bob will do the right thing and make the call or have the landlord to do so. I will most definitely update
